I first met Jenn and Nick last summer at a barbecue get together with friends. We really didn’t chat all that much until we fast forwarded to early this year when they came over to our house for one of our weekly community group dinners. I can say this now with absolute confidence, that Nick and Jenn are two of the kindest, genuine people you will ever meet. They’re those people you want on your team in life, you know? They “get it”. They understand the value of life because they’ve weathered storms with family health issues that no one wants to face. They’ve faced cross-country moves to place where they knew no one and well, I’m glad they moved back to Washington. :) Their faith has been deepened and rooted in Jesus because they’ve been through days that have seemed hopeless. Yet the moment you meet them, you want the hope and joy that they have. Jenn is one of those women who just make my heart warm. She has a way of making everyone feel so special and welcome and is such a tender, intentional, gentle mama to sweet Addy and baby on the way!

I’m just so thankful for their friendship and how they’ve blessed Nathan, Niyah and I. I can’t help but smile every time Addy points to Niyah and says, “Baybeeee Noah!” I can’t wait for these two precious girls to grow up together and I’m so thankful for sweet friends who are willing to face the unpredictable Southern Washington weather.

Their lifestyle session last weekend is quite possibly one of my favorite sessions to date. It’s the very reason I do what I do. It’s to capture the moments that they’ll look back on thirty years from now and be able to feel exactly those emotions in the photo. To flash back to these delicate toddler years and years of early parenthood. Because when you’re in it, some days are overwhelming. Some days feel daunting and like they’re never going to end. But I’ve been reminding myself each day to put down my phone, to close the doors to my office and be present with my baby girl. Photographing Nick and Jenn’s family was just that simple reminder for me to slow down once more. To savor those sweet drooly smiles and curious baby eyes and invest right where I’m at. Watching their family grow and seeing them deeply value that quality time was just that perfect reminder to savor it all. 

Nick and Jenn, thank you for the gift of your friendship. Thank you for the gift of sweet conversations and shared dinners. We can’t wait for all this year holds, and I can’t wait to hold this sweet new baby in a few short weeks!! <3
